The primary objective of the Committee of 25 is to provide financial assistance to children in need of medical or intellectual treatments that will improve the quality of their life when their parents’ financial resources are insufficient to meet their need. The Committee does not pay for the cost of medical procedures, but will cover the cost of airline tickets and hotel accommodations for the child and one parent for the duration of their stay overseas.

In addition, it assists with the cost of expensive prescriptions, wheelchairs or other physical apparatus as recommended in the referrals. Written referrals are received from doctors, social workers, teachers and other professionals that provide services to children.

Hundreds of Bermudian children have benefited from the Committee and continue to rely on the Committee’s financial assistance. In addition, the Committee is responsible for the day to day operation of the Bargain Box, a thrift store which benefits the community in general and which is run by volunteers.
